9 Days Egypt Adventure – October 11 -19, 2018


Our Daily Itinerary:

Thursday, October 11. Day 1: Arrive in Cairo and evening laser show at the Great Pyramids.
Welcome to the land of the pharaohs, pyramids and mummies! After we check-in to our hotel in Cairo, we’ll transfer to the Great Pyramids of Giza for a mesmerizing introduction night sound and light show with a stunning and captivating audio-visual display. Learn about the rich history of Ancient Egypt and the story of the Sphinx, guardian of the Giza Necropolis for over 5,000 years. (Dinner included)

Friday, October 12. Day 2: Full-Day at The Great Pyramids
Today after our included breakfast, we’ll explore and behold all the majesty of the Great Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza, one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. Gaze in awe at Cheops (Khufu) – the largest of the three great pyramids. Constructed from over 2.5 million limestone blocks, it is thought to have taken more than 20 years to construct. The other two – Chephren and Mycerinus are equally impressive. Afterward we tour the tomb-strewn necropolis of Saqqara, featuring King Zhoser’s step pyramid. Constructed by Imhotep, the pharaoh’s chief architect in 2700 BC, this was the template for all future pyramid construction.

Afterwards, we’ll admire artifacts from Ancient Egypt in the Cairo Museum, home to the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world. Arguably the most famous exhibit is the stunning solid gold funerary mask of the boy-King Tutankhamen. An entire gallery is devoted to the treasures unearthed by Howard Carter at Tutankhamen’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings in 1922. (Lunch and Dinner also included).

Saturday, October 13. Day 3: Cairo City Tour
They say that Cairo, the largest city in the Middle East and the Arab world, is chaos at its most magnificent, infuriating and beautiful. Today on our urban walking tour, we’ll visit the Citadel with its medieval fortification, the Cairo Tower with its incredible views, Khan El Khalili in the old bazaar district, The Hanging Chuch, which is one of the oldest churches in Egypt, and the oldest and largest mosque in Cairo -Ibn Toloun Mosque. (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included)

Sunday, October 14. Day 4: Fayoum
Breakfast at the hotel’s main restaurant.
Check out from hotel & road transfer to Auberge Fayoum hotel for 1 overnight
to visit the most attractive sites of Fayoum (Qaroun temple, Karanis & Meidum Pyramid). Egypt’s largest oasis is also the closest to the Nile and Cairo. Lake Qarun was formed around 70,000 years ago when the Nile overflowed into the Fayoum Depression. Now canals that connect it to the river maintain the lake. The oasis has historically been the “garden of Egypt” and it still produces a large amount of fruit and vegetables today. The lake is also noted for its abundance of wildlife. (Lunch & dinner included)

Monday, October 15. Day 5: Aswan Dam, Temple of Philae, Unfinished Obelisk
Breakfast at the hotel’s main restaurant.
Check out from Fayoum hotel & transfer to Cairo airport for domestic flight to Aswan, where we’ll get an up close look at the dam that divides the Nile from Lake Nasser, marvel at the sheer size of the unfinished Obelisk and revel in the natural beauty of Philae Temple’s island home. The temple was primarily dedicated to Isis but her husband Osiris and her son Horus were also worshipped there. Afterwards, we’ll transfer to our cruise on board the m/s Movenpick Sunray for 4 nights sailing from Aswan to Luxor including cruise sightseeing to be done by private English speaking guide.

13:30 Visit High Dam, the temple of Philae & unfinished Obelisk.
19:30 Welcome cocktail reception.
20:00 Dinner on board

Tuesday, October 16. Day 6: Kom Ombo Temple and Edfu Temple
Today we’ll find one of the most significant sacred structures in Egypt, the Temple of Horus at Edfu, and then continue to the Temple of Kom Ombo, see its curious double entrance, and learn of its dedication to the gods Sobek and a Haroeris—a later form of Horus. Learn about the extensive restoration that had to take place in an area susceptible to natural disaster and the 300 mummified crocodiles found while doing so, some of which now feature in a marvelous display.

Wednesday, October 17. Day 7: Valley of the Kings and Queens
Egypt’s ultimate and famed collection of elaborate tombs. For a period of nearly 500 years from the 16th to 11th century BC, rock cut tombs were excavated for the Pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom in this valley. Exploration, excavation and conservation continues today in the valley, and a new tourist centre has recently been opened.

Thursday, October 18. Day 8: Karnak and Luxor
Luxor stands on the 4,000-year-old site of Thebes, Egypt’s ancient royal capital, and Karnak is the largest of its temple complexes. Discover how this vast collection of buildings was developed by more than 30 pharaohs, including Amenhotep IV and Ramses II.

Friday, October 19. Day 9: End of Tour

08:00 Check out after breakfast & transfer to Luxor airport for flight back to Cairo for final departure back home, or ground transportation to Hurghada for optional Red Sea extension tour.

Optional 4-Day Hurghada Red Sea Beach Resorting Post-Tour


Our Daily Itinerary:

Friday, October 19. Day 1: Arrive in Hurghada, Red Sea
Today after breakfast on the ship, we’ll transfer by private mini-van from Luxor to the Red Sea Resort town of Hurghada in Egypt. (around 4 hours driving). Hurghada is one of the most popular Red Sea resort areas in Egypt. Hotels and expanded infrastructure provide holidaymakers with excellent aquatic facilities for sail boarding, yachting, deep-sea fishing, SCUBA diving and snorkeling and Hurghada’s central location provides a gateway to prime offshore reefs, which are some of the finest in the world. Hurghada also has plenty of restaurants and late night bars for evening entertainment. Just outside town is an ancient Roman quarry called Mons Porphyritis and Port Safarga – a famously windy place which is ideal for windsurfing. Overnight in Hurghada. (Dinner also included at resort)

Saturday, October 20. Day 2: Hurghada, Red Sea – excursion to Mahmya
Time to do a bit of snorkeling alongside the Mahmya Islands that are protected by HEPCA (The Hurghada Environmental Protection and Conservation Association is a Non-Governmental Organization that works primarily with marine and land conservation in the Red Sea Governorate in Egypt who are making sure that Hurghada’s water are free of pollution). After a relaxing one hour cruise it’s off to the island for lunch, snorkeling and soaking up the Egyptian sun. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snorkeling Equipment Included)

Sunday, October 21. Day 3: Hurghada, Red Sea
Today we are on our own schedule to relax, sunbath, sightsee or whatever else we feel like here in Hurghada. Other optional activities around Hurghada include a ride
in the only submarine in the Hurghada area taking you down to the depth of 22 m where you will marvel the beautiful marine life and colored corals, this is a fantastic way to see the underwater kingdom from the comfort of your seat. And, a Super Safari where you drive 25 KM inside the desert by 4×4 until you reach the Bedouin tent to discover how Bedouin live, how they get water, food & how do they cure their illness with the natural herbs they grow in the desert. You will also be riding Camels and visit a turtle museum. You can also discover the stars and sky as never seen before. Dinner & belly dancer show are included to make it an unforgettable trip. Also, located in the Desert Mountains, some 50km from the red sea coast near Hurghada – St. Anthony’s Monastery is the largest and oldest Coptic monastery in Egypt. Monday, October 22. Day 4: Hurghada, Red Sea
Check Out and transfer to Hurghada Airport for departure back to Cairo and back home. (Breakfast included)
